Your physicality is a glorious opportunity to influence humanity. What do I mean by that? I mean that getting into great fitness is an absolute game-changer. You will become so much more productive, you’ll become so much more agile. You’ll become so much more hearty and resilient, you’ll become so much more happy. You’ll just feel better. You’ll know your strength when you get really, really fit. In one wisdom tradition they will say, “When we are young, we would sacrifice all of our health for wealth. And when we get old and wise, we would sacrifice all of our wealth for one day of good health.” Someone at a leadership event I was delivering in Qatar handed me a piece of paper and he said, “Read it in the evening in your hotel room,” which I did. Scrawled on that piece of paper were these words: “Health is the crown on the well person’s head that only the ill person can see.”
In The Everyday Hero Manifesto, there’s a model, it’s called the Trinity of Radiant Vitality. There are three elements to it. The first one is movement, the second one is nutrition, the third one is recovery. Movement, nutrition, and recovery. Make sure you exercise. Make sure you follow my morning protocol around exercising to galvanize your productivity and your happiness, and then follow the Second Wind Workout protocol, where at the end of the day, you go for a walk or go for a swim. Make sure you move. Make sure you become a perpetual movement machine. It’s one of the ways to extend your longevity, which is one of the elements of legendary.
