So what often we do is we’re not really feeling good, we’re discouraged, our energy is low, we might be feeling full of stress, and someone asks us at work or at home, “How are you doing?” And we… It’s like we dump on them because we’re in pain or we’re hurting. The good news greeting is simply remembering that every time you encounter another human being, it’s an opportunity for you to make that person feel better, and in doing so you’re going to feel better. When you are nice or enthusiastic or optimistic to someone else, you not only uplift, according to science, their dopamine levels which is their feel-good neurotransmitter, and you uplift their serotonin, but you actually uplift yours in the process.
So by being nice or friendly to someone through good news greeting, you’ve done that other person a favor and you’ve done the same.
