If you study history’s most creative people, many of them spent time in nature every single day, and many of them were actually walkers. And one practice I’ve had in my life over the past 25years is when I finish my work each day. In the afternoon, I’ll either get on my mountain bike and I’ll go ride in a forest, or I will walk in nature. And sometimes I’ll listen to a podcast, but often I just, I’m alone with my thoughts. And just being around the colors of nature, the fresh air. Being in the countryside, for example, it puts me into flow state. It slows down my mind. It gets me closer to theta state. You get into that state of transient hypofrontality and it’s flow and all of these amazing ideas and insights start to come to you because your mind is freed and liberated to think. Not about daily worries or concerns or your responsibilities, but it’s just free to think, and all it takes is one idea to reshape the rest of your life.
