Even the longest life is a really short ride. I was reading a book a little while ago called Chasing Daylight, and it was a story of Eugene Kelly and he was the Global CEO of KPMG Worldwide. And he went into his doctor’s office and the doctor gave him news, and it was the kind of news none of us ever wants to hear when we go to our doctor’s office for a routine checkup. And the doctor said, “Gene, you’ve got 90 days left to live,” because he had a brain tumor that was incurable. And the book describes how he realized in those last 90 days of his life, he’d never taken his wife to lunch in all those years, he was a hard-charging executive. He’d missed a lot of Christmas concerts that his daughter had been at. He’d never taken long walks with his best friends through the woods and just laughed. And we do live in a world where we can get really busy and distracted around the wrong things. But let me ask you, what’s the point of spending your life climbing these mountains only to realize at the last hour of your last day, you’ve climbed the wrong mountains? I want to ask you a question straight from my heart to your heart, what do you want to stand for the rest of your life? Do you want to be a victim in some areas? Do you want to give away your power in other areas? Do you want to be average? Do you want to be mediocre maybe in your mindset or your Heartset, or some areas in your health? Do you want to be like everyone else on the planet, suffering from what I call the mass mediocritisation of humanity? Or do you want to be the undisputed leader of your craft? Do you want to be the most heroic person you know? Do you want to be the person in every room who has the biggest heart and the greatest strength? Do you want to be a person who is a great family person and a great human being? And ultimately, do you want to use the rest of your life to make history in your own unique way? The victim really does love entertainment. The victim really does get involved in being busy being busy. The victim makes a ton of excuses. The victim becomes a victim by saying, “I can’t be the Federer of my life or the Picasso of my years.” What I want you to do right now is take a good hard look at the rest of your life and how you want to live it.
