Your past is not a prison. Your past has come to serve you, to make you who you are. I don’t know about you, but I’ve grown the most through my difficult experiences. The things that have broken my heart have actually been the very things that opened my heart. Rumi, the great philosopher, said “keep breaking your heart over and over and over until it opens.” Helen Keller said it beautifully. She said, “if there was only joy in the world, we would not learn patience and strength.” You have the wisdom you have. You have the strength you have through your most difficult experiences. I believe the past is a perfect orchestration. Every person who came into your life, every difficult event, was perfectly calibrated to teach you the lesson you need to learn to get to your next level of consciousness, wisdom, bravery, and love. There have been no mistakes. Use your past as a platform for greater possibility. That’s what heroes do.
